Triathlon Update

Hi Triathletes!

It has been a busy weekend in the world of triathlon (it always is!)! As with anything in life, the more you know about a topic, the more interesting it becomes, so here is some news.

Race Results

1. Energade Results

Sunday 14th Movember saw the Vanderbijl leg of the BSG Energade Triathlon taking place and the swimming Bombers were out in force again. While Doug and I were toiling through a 100km bike / 5km run brick session (and pretending to finish the Tough One Workers Run), Terry was taking a weekend break, I’m not sure what Wynne was up to, Tennille, roan and Genelle were racing at the Vaal.

P_Dist P_Cat P_Sex Time Name Surname Swim Bike Run

Congratulations to Tennille, Roan and Genelle for great performances. Have a look here for the complete results. The final two races in this series are in PE (28th Mov)

2. Ironman 70.3 Triathlon World Champ Results

On Saturday 13thMovember was the Ironman 70.3 Triathlon World Championships in Clearwater, USA. For those of us doing the Ironman 70.3 in East London, this race is one of the many that you can use for qualifying to get to Clearwater. (Tennille, based on your form, maybe you should consider this …). The race was a nail-biting race, producing some great winners (sorry, I’m not telling you here who won – the best way of finding out is to click here and go to the race commentary and start reading from the start of the race – it only takes about 10 minutes to get the full excitement of the race.

Upcoming Races

There are two (no three) more races in and around Gauteng this year, and if you are doing 70.3, you should be thinking of doing at least one of the Standard Olympic Distance races.

1. Saturday 27th Movember – St Stithian’s College Junior Triathlon

The third and final race of this series is happening in 12 days time. This is a great event for all Bombers to bring your kids to enjoy. Roan, Doug & Robyn, Terry, Gill, Wynne, Lianne, Andrew H, how about bringing your kids to participate – it is non competitive and all about taking part.

2. Sunday 28th Movember – 2010 Pretoria-Tshwane ITU Triathlon African Cup

This event is an international event, so you will get to see some World-class athletes up close. It will give you the feeling of what it is like to participate in a well organised event (similar to what will be experienced in East London). This is also the Gauteng North Triathlon Champs, so is you are registered with TSA as a triathlete (like I know that Roan is), then you stand a chance of making the Gauteng team to participate in SA Champs next year. Judging from the results of the 11Global race a week ago, there could be quite a few qualifying!!

The details of this event can be found on the Triathlon South Africa website. It will be held at the Pretoria West Power Station, starting at 07h00. Check the detailed program out here.

The event caters for the following:

· Age Group male & Fun (1,5/40/10)

· Age Group female & Fun (1,5/40/10)
