RAC Looong Run

Hi Bombers

Hope the training is going well.

Seeing some of the times that came out of the latest races, like Oceans, Long Tom and others, I’d say training is going fantastically.

Tomorrow, Friday 27th April is the RAC Comrades Looong Run of 60km. It starts at RAC at 05h00, but make sure that you are there early to register and get your number. Last year there was a long queue of cars trying to get into the parking lot – through everyone waiting to start running, so please make sure that you get there early. You can download a map of the route here. https://bryanstonbombers.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/rac-looong-run-route-map.pdf I am not sure of the cost, but it is likely to be R80 – R100

If you have a Garmin, you can download the course to your watch here http://connect.garmin.com/course/1085627

On Sunday, the RAC club run is Northcliff and is the last club run that starts at 06h00. From next week (May already), the RAC club runs start at 07h00 officially.

If you are doing Comrades, make sure that you are starting to prepare mentally for the race. Have a read of Barry Holland https://bryanstonbombers.wordpress.com/directions/comrades-2010-2/barry-hollands-comrades-down-run/ and Denis Kennedy’s https://bryanstonbombers.wordpress.com/directions/comrades-2010-2/comrades-2010/ descriptions of the down run – they will give you a good ‘spine-chilling’ feel for the race. You can also visualise the rout profile here. https://bryanstonbombers.files.wordpress.com/2010/04/comrades-down-profile-s.jpg
